Opera is planning to launch its new tablet and smartphone browser for iOS and Android devices and it is called Opera Ice. According to Opera, it is the futuristic web browser  and it is different from the company’s current offerings.

Unlike the conventional mobile browser it is similar to an app launcher. Opera Ice doesn’t have any buttons, menus or tabs.

The entire interface will depend on touch gestures. It is a full touch and tablet focused browser, says the company officials.

On starting up, it presents a small grid of site icons and after launching it goes full screen. The only User Interface element you can see in Opera Ice is the home button and it is situated near the bottom of the screen.

And it functions just like the physical home button on an iPad or iPhone. Opera Ice will also save the state of each site you open, so that you can pick up where you left off when you re-open a site.

You can see the same page position and same zoom level. Moreover, Opera Ice uses the WebKit framework that is currently used by Apple and google in their browsers.

The company has plans to announce Opera Ice on iOS and Android during the Mobile World Congress in February. The company also has plans to release an updated desktop browser in March.
