Apple Fourth-Generation iPad Rumored to Land in March 2013

December 24, 2012, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Two months ago, Apple launched their fourth-generation iPad. If the rumors flying now are to be believed, then the technology giant is going to leap ahead and release the fifth-generation iPad early next year.

This interesting snippet was found in Japanese blog Macotakara, who reports that a redesigned iPad 5 could take to the shelves in March 2013. That could make it the second in five months.

The report goes like this: “However Chinese news ZOL (CBS Interactive) reported next iPad mini in AppleInsider’s article, according to my inside source, iPad(5th) may be released in March, 2013. Source told that, design of this new iPad will be like iPad mini in detail, and be thinner and lightweight.”

Thinner and lighter and similar to the iPad mini, they say, which does seem to be an interesting combination for an Apple gadget! The proposed measurement for the new iPad would be 4mm, 17mm and 2mm smaller in height, width, and depth than what we see in the current models.

Anyway, this isn’t the first time we are hearing about a new iPad for the markets. Earlier, DigiTimes had carried a report that talked about a new-generation iPad, destined to land in the “Middle of 2013”. Traditionally, Apple has always released their new iPads within the first couple of months of the year.

They strayed out of that habit only for the launch of their fourth-generation iPad and the iPad Mini.

Macotakara could be right, as they did predict, quite accurately, the design of the iPod Nano and the iPod Touch, which came out this year.
