Archos 97 Titanium HD Unveiled with Retina Display

December 22, 2012, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Archos 97 Titanium HD is now out in the open. The French company has been on a roll with different Android tablets like the 13.3-inch Arnova Family Pad, the 8-inch 80 Cobalt, and the 7-inch Game Pad.

The latest gadget sports a 9.7 inch IPS display with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels, like the one on Apple’s latest iPad. So, in short, the Archos 97 Titanium HD can be said to feature a retina display too.

The tablet, running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, has a 1.6GHz dual-core A9 processor, coupled with a quad-core GPU (Mali 400 MP4) under the hood. The camera department is healthy with a 5-megapixel rear shooter, complete with autofocus, and a 2-megapixel front camera for video calls.

There’s 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal memory, and the storage can be expanded to 64GB via a MicroSD card. The other features include Wi-Fi, Archos Media Center apps and OfficeSuite Viewer.

Archos 97 Titanium HD measures 240 mm x 184 mm x 9 mm, and weighs 640 grams. The slate is a first from the company to come with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels, so Archos would favor it to the top of their line-up.

They haven’t disclosed when the tablet would reach markets, but it is expected to enter European markets pretty soon. We don’t know the price it would sell for, and we don’t expect to hear it until they announce the release window.

The Archos official website carries a page for the device, so if you are interested, do check it out.
