The Korean electronics giant has unleashed its Android-powered camera into the market, with AT&T and Verizon 4G LTE connectivity for Stateside. Samsung’s Galaxy Camera will be showing off its features in a new ad starring actor James Franco.

The commercial is a bit long, about two and a half minutes, but the time is well spent in displaying the ability of the Galaxy Camera. Add that with Franco’s charm, and the ad gets through without any hiccups.

The company’s tagline- “Connected Camera Begins”- is what they try to focus on in the new commercial. They have, quite effectively, displayed the actual uses of having an Android-powered smart-camera.

The video shows the easiness of instant cropping (useful in blocking off photobombers) and the ability of the device to save images directly and instantly into Dropbox. You might be knowing what ticks inside the device, and even if you don’t, they are lined down for you.

The Galaxy Camera sports a Super Clear LCD display in the rear, which is measured 4.7-inches diagonally, and has a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixel. The back is covered by a giant Gorilla Glass 2, and the camera runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, coupled with TouchWiz.

You get ample storage with 8GB of internal space, and if that’s not enough, there’s a slot for a microSD card that can take up to 64GB. Under the hood, pumping out power is a quad-core Exynos processor and a Mali 400MP GPU.

The 16-megapixel camera provides 21x optical zoom, with AF light, and a pop-up Xenon flash. A wide-angle 23mm lens and 1080p video recording at 30fps wraps up the features nicely.

The Galaxy Camera marks the debut of the first 4G LTE camera on Verizon’s network. The carrier is selling the device for a price tag of $549.
