Rumors before launch are common phenomena, but only a lucky few can actually catch hold of the device prior to release. One such claim is from a Vietnamese website, tinhte.vn, who says they have with them one of the upcoming BlackBerry L-Series handsets.
This device is a flagship from RIM, and as per our calculations, won’t be seen on shelves until the end of January 2013. The device, running BlackBerry 10, is expected to help RIM regain its grip in the mobile industry.
Anyway, the website has obliged by clicking pictures and videos and posting them online. The device, also known as BlackBerry London, does seem to be the original thing, and not some kind of prototype.
For one, the photographs of the device bear resemblance to the one we saw in RIM’s own leak. Remember, a couple of days back, the company had unwittingly oozed out a press picture of the BB 10 smartphone, and the recent images strike the same chord of the new handset.
This product from RIM is a non-QWERTY keyboard phone, with a touchscreen display, and it looks sleek and impressive on video. The phone features a removable back cover, all set with an NFC antenna, and you can also see the space for the micro-SIM and microSD card, as well as the dock for a removable 1,800mAh battery.
There’s a play/pause toggle button mixed in with the volume setter, and the left-hand side houses the micro-USB and micro-HDMI ports. Overall the design looks clean, and we can only hope that the device has enough fuel to rocket RIM up in the market.
There’s a hands-on video below, and unless you know Vietnamese, you might find the language hard to follow. But the visuals are more than enough to glean some details of the device.
