BMW i8 Set for World Debut

We know you all have been waiting for the launch of a new BMWi concept for the last few months. Finally, now we now received official word that it is getting ready for its world debut.

The BMW i8 will be one of the most progressive sports cars in the world. The unique plug-in hybrid concept will combine the electric motor, fitted over its front axle, with a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine connected to the rear wheels.

The combined performance will deliver an outstanding output of 393 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. The two drive systems, which display their performance to the maximum, can bring in a maximum speed of 156 km/h.

However, the car provides a fuel consumption of an ordinary small vehicle. The average fuel consumption of the car is an expected 2.7L/100km on a combined cycle.

With the eDrive technology and the large lithium-ion battery, the car can provide a sprint time of 0-62 mph in 4.9 seconds. On electric motor alone, the BMW i8 Concept can move up to 35 kilometers. The car can accommodate four people with the 2+2-seater with much privacy and space.

The BMW i8 concept will set new a benchmark in its class for performance, luxury, efficiency and safety. According to the company, this sports car for the new generation is pure, emotional and sustainable.
