HTC M7 Rumored to Appear in MWC 2013

December 7, 2012, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

HTC is honing its next flagship device for the market. The company’s Droid DNA is hardly two weeks old before they are looking to launch their next device in early 2013.

The HTC DLX, or Deluxe, is yet to get a release date for the UK market, but looks like the Taiwanese manufacturer is too busy with another smartphone up their sleeve. Rumors suggest that HTC is working closely with casing and semiconductor suppliers to patch up a 5-inch Android smartphone.

Sources say that the company has asked for materials to manufacture four to five million units, starting from the first quarter of 2013. The new flagship smartphone, HTC M7, is expected to appear during the Mobile World Congress that is held from 25th to 28th in February 2013.

The mega event, held in Barcelona, almost always witness HTC introducing a new device every year, so this time should be no different. Moreover, the company’s speedy move suggests that it is looking to race ahead of Samsung.

Samsung, which launched the Galaxy S III in May, is speculated to unveil their next Galaxy device- the Samsung Galaxy S IV- during MWC as well. If we have two giants coming out with their products simultaneously, it would be an interesting battle of smartphones to behold.

The specifications of the M7 are hidden from us, but we do have some info you can hang on to. The device would probably feature a 5-inch HD display, with a 13-megapixel camera adorning the backside.

The M7 is supposed to have a uni-body aluminum shell, inside of which a  Qualcomm APQ8064 quad-core processor (Snapdragon S4 Pro) would chug for power. The accelerated launch of M7 in the markets is supposedly for the rise of HTC’s market share.

Having their flagship device among customers before Samsung released their Galaxy S IV would allow the Taiwanese company to regain a hold in the smartphone market and improve their financial status for the year.
