HTC Opera UL Could be the Official Facebook Phone

A Facebook phone rumor has been circulating around for quite some time now and even after Mark Zuckerberg brushed away the idea of an official Facebook phone, it does seem like the device actually exists. A device, suspected to be the official handset of the social networking site has been spotted loitering around for the benchmark test.

The HTC Opera UL is touted to be an OEM product for the social networking site. Moreover, the chant of “It is the Facebook phone, made for Facebook” has been heard reverberating online, so I guess this is the real deal.

The funny part is that the device has reportedly been delayed from launch, and that’s funny because we never knew when it was scheduled to be released anyway. Maybe the delay might be pertaining to some hardware or software issues and not exactly for the release window.

Anyway, we do know that the Taiwanese company is manufacturing a smartphone specifically for Zuckerberg’s site. The HTC Opera UL will mark the social networking giant’s first step into the smartphone industry.

From what we have been able to glean from the NenaMark2 benchmark test, the device will be carrying a 1.4GHz processor, which will most probably be dual-core. There will apparently be a Qualcomm Adreno 305 graphics processor, and the device will be sporting an HD display of resolution 1280×720.

The handset  runs on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean at the moment, and there’s a chance that it might get upgraded when it releases. That’s all we know for now, and everyone here is betting the smartphone to turn up in blue.
