Logitech Broadcaster Wi-Fi Webcam Brings in Productivity with Portability

Logitech has announced its latest Broadcaster Wi-Fi Webcam today. It is an incredible device targeted at people who want to stream video live or for similar purposes.

The Broadcaster supports Ustream live streaming and users can do some neat tricks with their MacBook and iMovie. The only sad thing as for now is that Broadcaster is only compatible with Macs at the moment.

The Broadcaster offers HD 720p video capture and has 3x digital zoom. It also supports digital pan & tilt.

An external microphone jack gives users the option to use their own if they don’t like the built-in mono microphone. As for battery life, Logitech estimates that it’ll last about two hours.

Users can use the Broadcaster by itself, or they can record with it and their MacBook’s webcam simultaneously. If they do that, they can use iMovie to stitch the feeds together.

The benefit is that the users can get two angles at once. They can do something similar with Skype too; they can’t send both video feeds at once, but they can toggle between their built-in and the broadcaster with the push of a button, which could be very handy.

The Broadcaster also supports iPad or iPhone. So it is useful for previewing video on user’s mobile device before sending it to Ustream.

This would be an interesting addition to Logitech’s Windows-compatible lineup, but Logitech said today in its blog comments that it’s not commenting “on future updates at the moment.” The Broadcaster will be available this month for $199.99 and the pre-orders for this awesome device have started on its official site.
