Nexus 7 32GB Version Surfaces; Listings Leak

October 5, 2012, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Wednesday morning saw a database listing that showed a 32GB Google Nexus 7. The database apparently belongs to Carphone Warehouse, Europe’s largest independent mobile retailer and a UK based corporation.

Some time ago, they earned added fame by leaking the news about the black Galaxy S III. While the Nexus leak is very much mesmerizing, it isn’t the only information in the listing. There’s also a statement that indicates a ‘Samsung Nexus 2’ that points to the possibility of a Galaxy Nexus 2.

This info isn’t enough to confirm the existence of such devices, but it’s one of the most interesting speculations of this month.

There are other sites also showing the same type of listing. All listings have the same part number and two of them have a matching UPC included. None of them have an image, but it’s apparent that all know what a Nexus 7 looks like.

One page doesn’t list a price, but the others are showing the prices of $269 and $272.18. Among these listings, one shows the unlikely claim that it ships in 1-2 weeks. The weird thing is that the listings are showing the version of Bluetooth as 2.1 instead of the expected 3.0 version.

There have been rumors of a $99 Nexus 7 tablet for a long time. It is likely that Google will drop the 8GB to $99 (or $149) so that it can match the Fire HD at 16GB for $199, and then offer this new 32GB model.

Now, Google could really be planning a 32GB Nexus 7, but at the same time this could just be inventory listings for the device that never got removed once Google announced there would only be an 8 and 16GB option.

Anyway, if the listings are true, then all other competitors have to do something to keep up with Google in the tech market.
