Mac or PC: The Laptop Battle Question

September 26, 2012, By Daniel Rapcencu

If you are looking for a new laptop, as I am, you might be torn between whether or not to switch from PC to Mac (as I am thinking) or maybe jumping from the iFanclub to becoming a PC.

I have found a couple items at which I am considering.  I am attracted to them both.  One is the MacBook Pro and the other is the Acer Aspire.

The new 13.3” MacBook Pro has a size which is great for portability and still comfortable enough for easy viewing.  It has an Intel Core i5 2.5GHz Dual-Core Processor with Turbo Boost up to 3.1GHz under the hood with 4 GB of RAM.

A 500 GB 5400 RPM hard drive gives plenty of storage for just about anyone’s needs.  At a price of $1,238.30, this is a great deal.  The price also includes an additional 1-year extended warranty.

The Acer Aspire has a 13.3” display, so in comparison to the MacBook Pro, that extra 0.05-inch difference is indiscernible.  It sports an Intel Core i7 1.9 GHz processor and has 4 GB of memory.

A 128 GB hard drive is decent size for most work.  The price of $999 does not include an extended warranty, so for a cost of 1,091.99 you get an extended 1-year warranty.

The two systems are really close in value.  If you order a 500 GB hard drive for the Acer Aspire, the two systems will be practically the same in performance and price.

So now, the question remains: PC or Mac?  Which one would you get?
