Right ahead of an official launch, LG has started touting about its upcoming LG Optimus G.
Though the quad core power of the Qualcomm S4 Pro processor reportedly packed in the device has made it a dream device to grab for many, now LG says there are more reasons for gadget lovers to drool about this new device.
As per a promotional video uploaded by LG, the camera on board LG Optimus G is a special one. The 13 megapixel camera, according to LG, offers world’s best image quality with the cutting edge technology used in it.
Calling it an ultra-slim camera, LG says the technology used by LG Innotek is the best among the world’s camera module technologies.
According to Hyeong-cheol Moon, Director of the Optical Solution Business 2 at LG Innotek, the 13 megapixel sensor is the highest pixel camera to be mounted on a smartphone released till date. We don’t know if he has just missed Nokia’s PureView 808 in his calculations.
Despite the high quality 13 mega pixel sensor, LG was able to keep the device ultra slim and ultra compact, thanks to a bunch of technologies.
According to Moon, to keep the phone thinner and compact, they have used an image sensor with world’s smallest pixel size of 1.1 micron.
LG also makes it clear that the large diameter lens with ultra-thin size along with the High Accuracy PKG technology has enabled LG to keep the phone at 8.45 mm thickness.
It is interesting to see that smartphone cameras getting improved day by day. However, in case of LG Optimus G, the 13 MP variant will be available only in some geographical locations while an 8 MP variant will go to other markets.
