August 28, 2012, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Looks like Samsung is in love with giant devices, even in the present era which is highly inclined to portable solutions.

Announcing their love affair with beefy devices again, Samsung has rolled out another giant device – giant by today’s market trend.

But sorry, we are not talking about yet another smartphone or phablet, or about a brand new Android tablet. Samsung has blessed the digital world with media player, which needs you to have pants with big pockets to carry it on the go.

Dubbed Galaxy Player 5.8, the new rig is a jukebox that has a 5.8 incher LCD display with a resolution of 960 x 540. That is way bigger than its popular cousin from the same stable – Samsung Galaxy S III.

To keep the novelty of the device to the highest, Samsung has added the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich platform to the media player plus their unique TouchWiz interface in its latest iteration.

It is for the first time that ICS and current generation Touchwiz make it into a Samsung Media Player.

The media player comes in two variants as far as in-built storage capacity is concerned – one carries 16 GB on bard, while the other, the usual 32 GB. However, a microSD card slot allows you to add more storage to it.

The VGA camera on the front will help you have better face chatting sessions. To meet the energy needs of the hungry display, Samsung has stuffed a massive 2,500 mAh battery into it.

However, there is no exact info regarding the processor chip inside. Possible launch date or pricing details are also yet to be revealed.

However, it is expected that the device will come out in the imminent IFA 2012.
