The much speculated NEX range of digicams from Sony will most likely get its family bigger and mightier with the upcoming NEX-5R and NEX-6 models.

This can be said with utmost surety, as a Chinese website has posted some leaked images of the models. Going by the looks of it, and the new upcoming devices are incredibly awesome.

The NEX range has already amassed more popularity than any similar range of cameras and this list will definitely become more attractive than ever before when these gorgeous babies roll out.

From the photos, NEX-5R looks almost similar to the NEX-5n and has the flip screen from the NEX-F3.

An attractively designed 16 megapixel APS-C sensor with Phase Detection AF pixels adds to the utility factor considerably.

The Wi-Fi connectivity and APP support options are definitely good add-ons. Price will be approximately around $700 with the lens kit.

As far as the NEX-6 is concerned, it resembles a mini NEX-7 with the integrated viewfinder. This cam has an EVF with low resolution and the same 16 Megapixel APS-C sensor as in the NEX-5R. This model also has Wi-Fi connectivity and APP support. Price will be most probably between $950 and $1000.

The NEX-5 range is a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera with the body of a common point-and-shoot camera but with a sensor size (APS-C) comparable to that of some digital single-lens reflex cameras.

Its major competitors in the market would be the micro 4/3 standard created by Panasonic and Olympus and a few low-end Canon, Nikon, and even Sony Alpha A-mounts.

The NEX-5 shoots 14.2 megapixel stills and has a 7-frame continuous shot mode. It has the capability to shoot 1920x1080i at 60 frames per second in AVCHD or 1440x1080p at 30 frames per second in MPEG4. The NEX-5 was replaced by the NEX-5N in August 2011.
