iPad Mini Rumored to Look Like a Big iPod Touch

When Apple is about to launch a new device, the Web is filled with rumors about the new device. We have been hearing the news about the possible launch of new iPhone, probably named iPhone 5.

Now, we have come across news that the Cupertino Company is closing in on launching its first 7-inch tablet. Many think this tab will be called the iPad Mini.

On source even claims to have got hold of major specs of the device. According to this source, the device will look like a big iPod Touch with thinner bezels along the sides and there will be separate volume buttons rather than a ‘rocker’ and a microphone on the back.

Reports began appearing early last month that the iPad Mini would take design cues from the iPod Touch. Based on the latest rumor, the lack of a wider bezel, unlike the 9.7-inch iPad, will define how the tablet is held and used.

Pricing is also still under speculation and that decision will be critical for the product’s sales in this market. Google is foisting the $199 price point on the market with its popular 7-inch Nexus 7 tablet, following in Amazon’s footsteps. Will Apple overcome these price tags? Let’s wait and see.

But with a thickness in line with the iPod touch, the iPad mini would be one-third thinner than the Nexus 7 and thus encompass roughly one-third less volume and one-third less weight.

Comparing this to the Nexus 7’s weight of 340 grams, many reports suggest that the iPad mini could weigh just 265 grams, marking a major weight savings over the full-size iPad while still retaining a reasonable display size.

The speculated launch date is said to be around September 12. Unlike the next-generation iPhone, it will likely be a good amount of time before the iPad Mini  actually launches, with the company likely to begin boosting production to achieve availability just in time for the holiday shopping season.
