Rumor mills suddenly burst into action when a teaser about a yet-to-be-released smartphone reportedly originating from Motorola hit Facebook. The flood gates of speculations were all opened from the moment; but now Motorola says that was nothing but a false alarm.

Sources from Motorola say that the teaser which hit Facebook was a false alarm. It looks like everything came at the right time and created some confusion.

A latest rumor from Motorola featured a device which was reportedly an international version of the upcoming DROID RAZR HD. The leak was so complete that everybody thought that such a device is almost at the door step.

So when Moto started a Facebook game which asked people to guess a current smartphone, everybody took it as a teaser on the upcoming DROID RAZR HD or another unannounced device from Motorola stable.

The company spokeswoman Becki Leonard has even issued an apology on behalf of the company for the confusion. “We’re sorry for the confusion, but it’s a Facebook game asking people to guess a current smartphone and not meant to come across as a new phone,”, she said.

However, many still believe that Motorola is going to unveil the DROID RAZR HD in the US on August 10 and the ‘teaser and confusion’ game was just a ploy to divert user attention from the imminent event.

However, the company was not ready to acknowledge the launch date of the device or to say anything official about it.
