Pebble Smartwatch To Miss September Launch

July 25, 2012, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Remember the Pebble smartwatch, the Kickstarter-funded project for an e-paper watch for iPhone and Android? The project grabbed media attention when it received a massive 85,000 orders during its Kickstarter campaign.

But the piling up of orders has forced the company to push back shipping days.

Apparently, the company has not been able to get production into full swing yet. The company had expected to ship just 1,000 smartwatches. Now the company will have to ramp its production to meet the huge demand. And that will take time.

Pebble is a customizable watch that allows users to download beautiful watch faces and internet connected apps. It can connect with your iPhone or Android phone via Bluetooth.

The apps built for Pebble can turn it into many things, like a bike computer for cyclists or a complex digital machine that can keep an eye on their pace for runners. It can alert users about incoming calls by a silent vibration and can controller music player apart from performing many other operations.

The smartwatch was expected to start shipping in September, but according to the latest official blog post, the company admits that Pebbles will miss that date. The company claims that it is striving to make 15,000 Pebbles a week to meet the orders. However, it has not given possible shipping date yet.

We think its worth the wait. What do you think?
