Despite its superior build quality, Sony’s Android-powered Tablet S did not excite the market. Still Sony seems to believe in the product, and if our sources in the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) are correct, the company is planning to release a sequel.
A device which has recently bagged FCC approval is shown to have a model number SGPT1211 which indicates that Sony is going to add a new entrant to its tablet line up. However, the FCC document was not generous enough to give us a clue on the type of OS loaded in the device.
But considering Sony’s tradition, we hope it could be the brand new Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. But, we don’t completely write off the chances of it sporting Windows 8 either.
Sony Tablet S was unfortunate not to make it into the limelight for long, despite having certain unique features. The unique folder design and the build quality of the device did not help Tablet S.
Though the company updated the tablet to Ice Cream Sandwich recently, it is still finding it difficult in the market.
So we hope that the device we found at the FCC is the successor to the Tablet S. if that is the case, we can hope for a better spec sheet for the device than its predecessor.
