Shopping with MasterCard will be easier from now on, with the credit card giant signing an agreement with shopkick so as to reward customers with ‘kicks’.
Kicks are a type of virtual currency that can be redeemed for gifts, movie tickets or can be used in availing other offers.
As an introductory offer, every MasterCard user who uses his card for participating in the ‘Buy and Collect’ program will get a bonus of 250 kicks that can be redeemed later.
Shopkick is the world’s largest real-world shopping app and this agreement really serves the interests of the customers in purchasing goods with their MasterCard. The added advantage of this program is that it can really help retailers in boosting sales.
In a world where the ‘showrooming’ business technique is setting its foothold deeper and deeper, this program will aid retailers heavily. According to Mario Shiliashki, group head of Emerging Payments at MasterCard, this program will help consumers maximize rewards while working in par with their interests and passions.
What the customers need to do is to go through the simple download of the app and linking their MasterCard card to it. Meanwhile, he also quoted that their merchant partners will also benefit from a stronger relationship with their customers.
Shoppers who use their MasterCard card to join the ‘Buy & Collect’ program will qualify for offers such as “spend $40 and receive 250 kicks” at retailers such as American Eagle Outfitters, Arden B., Crate and Barrel, Old Navy, Toys ‘R’ Us and Wet Seal. Check out the app here.
Earlier, in November 2011, shopkick had also teamed up with Visa to use Visa’s real-time messaging technology as a way to enhance its new loyalty program and reward consumers at the point of sale.
As part of this strategy, shopkick lets mobile users earn more redeemable “kicks” by choosing to link their eligible Visa debit or credit card into its Buy & Collect program and making qualifying purchases at participating shopkick merchants with the linked card.
