South Korean dreams of expansion know no bounds, no matter what challenges the rivals set in front of them.
That is the reason why we did not wonder when we heard that the South Korean customer electronics maker Samsung is developing its own social networking service to challenge Facebook.
According to reports from the local press, the project is codenamed Samsung Facebook in the internal circles of Samsung , obviously making it clear that they are targeting the incumbent social networking king. The project has progressed so far that the developers with Samsung has already designed the framework for the service.
Samsung already tried their hands at some social networking recipe with the current Family Story app which is more about sharing photos, events and messaging. The new social networking attempt from Samsung will reportedly succeed the current app.
According to Samsung sources, the site will be available by the first quarter of next year. The web service will be compatible with devices in different platforms. So you can access the service from any web connected smartphone, tablet, PC or laptop and even from cameras and TVs.
Samsung seems to be keener on building up an ecosystem around its kingdom of customer electronics manufacturing.
They have recently unveiled a bunch of cloud based content services associated with the launch of their Galaxy S III Smartphone.
Anyway, Facebook is reportedly making its own Smartphone, so it is pretty reasonable that a phone maker now making a Facebook of their own, right?
