Samsung Series 5 Convertible and Touch Ultrabooks Run Windows 8

Samsung has been generous enough to provide a demo of their latest Series 5 Convertible and Touch ultrabooks that feature Windows 8.

The physical dimensions resemble the earlier series 5 ultra book but the features are quite new and, of course, heart winning.

The Samsung Notebook Series 5 Ultra Convertible is fabricated with a 360° hinge that allows the notebook to flip into a tablet. The device runs on an Intel Core i7 processor at 1.9 GHz, and has about 6 to 7 hours of battery life.

Samsung has clearly indicated that the device is only a concept at this point. The company gave a demo of a similar device, called the Samsung Notebook Series 5 Ultra Touch, but this comes without the 360-degree hinge for its display.

Both the ultrabooks are made from metal casing, while only the bottom lid remains plastic.

Touch sensitivity is mind blowing and the whole hardware very well suits Windows 8. The convertible may have the disadvantage of pushed buttons on the keyboard when placed in the transformed position.

Other than that, all looks pretty amazing. The display with multi-gesture support and incredible clarity is truly eye candy stuff.

Microsoft is yet to announce a release date for Windows 8. But analysts expect the new operating system to arrive by the end of this year. Samsung has captured the attention of techies all over the world with their innovative products and it looks like they are continuing their pursuit in the coming months too.
