Sony Xperia Go and Xperia Acro S to Come by Third Quarter

Sony has announced that it would be releasing two new Android smartphones called the Sony Xperia Go and the Sony Xperia Acro S. We hear both the devices will not only be water-proof, but will also be dust-proof.

The Sony Xperia Go will run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS (an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS update is expected soon) and will carry a 1 GHz dual-core cortex A9 processor with Novathor U8500 chipset.

It will be equipped with a Mali-400 GPU which should offer amazing visual performance. It displays a 3.5 inch LED-backlit LCD capacitive touch-screen at a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels.

It offers a 5 megapixel camera on the back which can take pictures at 2592 x 1944 pixels. The camera comes with LED flash and autofocus, it enables the user to take videos at 720p @ 30 fps which includes features like continuous autofocus, video light and video stabilizer.

The device will have under the bonnet an internal memory of 8 GB, of which 4 GB is available for the user and can be expanded through microSD cards upto 32 GB. It also comes with 512 MB RAM. It is powered by a standard Li-Ion 1305 mAh battery.

The Sony Xperia Acro S, on the other hand, is packed with even better features than the Xperia Go. The Xperia Acro S will run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS and will feature a 1.5 GHz dual-core Scorpion processor with Qualcomm MSM8260 Snapdragon chipset.

It will come with an Adreno 220 GPU. It displays a 4.3 inch LED-backlit LCD capacitive touch-screen at a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. It comes with a 12 Mega Pixel camera which can click at a resolution of 4000 x 3000 pixels.

The camera features LED flash and autofocus. Enabled to take videos at 1080p @ 30 fps, it comes with features like continuous autofocus, video light and video stabilizer just like the Xperia Go.

There is a 1.3 megapixel camera on the front, which can take videos at 720p @ 30 fps. It offers 16 GB of internal storage of which 11 GB is available for the user. The memory can be expanded up to 32 GB with microSD card.

Unlike the Xperia Go, the Xperia Acro S comes with 1 GB of Internal memory. Another very interesting feature of the phone is that it features Sony mobile BRAVIA engine. It is powered by a standard Li-Ion 1910 mAh battery.

Both these mobile phones are expected to hit the markets sometime in the third quarter of 2012. It isn’t that far, which means all you Xperia fans don’t have to wait that long.
