People indeed love Google. But when the much awaited ChromeOS machine came out, it disappointed the general public and the disappointment was reflected in the market performance of Google’s attempts to sell these devices.

However, undeterred by the market experience, Google has announced a refresh to its ChromeOS machine line up.

This time the lime light is grabbed by two machines, both made by Samsung – The Samsung Chromebook Series 5 550 and Samsung Chromebox, the former is an updated ChromeOS notebook and the latter a small desktop machine looking similar to Apple’ Mac mini.

The Series 5 550 Chromebook packs a lot of novelties than its predecessors. It brings along a significant memory upgrade for the Chromebook Series 5 550 with 4 GB of RAM and a 16 GB of internal storage.

To run the show, the machine depends on a dual core Intel Celeron processor running at 1.3 GHz.

Though Chromebox has given an early unofficial appearance through a leak, the official announcement has confirmed the specs we heard at the leak. It packs a 1.9 GHz Intel Celeron B840 dual core processor chip, 4 GB RAM and 16 GB of internal storage.

Chromebook starts its price range at $450 for a Wi-Fi model. A 3G model of the same device will take it up to $550. Just like its form factor, Chromebox is smaller in its price tag too.

The smaller machine is available for $330 and is available at Amazon and NewEgg. BestBuy also will soon start selling these machines.
