Asus Transformer Pad TF300T Fails to Overtake Prime in Price Vs Usability Scale

May 21, 2012, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

The Asus transformer line-up has some interesting devices. But when we have spent some time with the newest entrant to the line-up – Asus Transformer Pad TF300T, we felt like sharing some of the pros and cons we have felt about the device with our readers.

The first thing that will strike you when you play with this tablet-laptop hybrid device is its resemblance with Asus Transformer Prime.

Though Pad TF300T comes less expensive than the Prime, it fails to take over Prime in many ways.

Unlike the Prime, the TF300T will project its plastic feel above anything. The plastic casing on Pad helps save money and is thicker than the metal covering on the Prime It also offers three different colors to pick from. But metal is metal and plastic is always plastic.

However, the battery life of the devices is another major difference that users should take care of, before making a purchasing decision.

When we tried playing video continuously on both machines, just to test their power life, we found that the TF300T dies in nine hours while it was a full 10 hours and a 45 minutes for the Prime.  That’s nearly 2 hours more playing time for the Transformer Prime.

If you think that is a major difference, you should also look at the price tag of these brothers to understand that Asus has put them in comparatively disadvantageous positions. While the Asus Transformer Pad TF300T costs just £400, its bigger bro Prime costs £490 which makes it no big difference between the price tags.

In other words, if you are ready to spend a few bucks more, you get a better, durable device with improved power life. Now check the review after the break.
