NTT DOCOMO, the leading mobile phone network carrier in Japan, is all set to flood the market with 17 new phones, a tablet and a Wi-Fi hotspot with a launch slated in or after June. Majority of these new products are compatible with DOCOMO’s fourth generation X LTE network.

It is an Ice Cream Sandwich party on NTT DOCOMO, as all the new comers, except the Wi-Fi hotspot and the kid’s phone, run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. In this crowd, there are 12 dual core devices with their display sizes varying from 3.7 to 5-inches. The lone tablet comes with a 10.1 inch display and 1.2 GHz dual core processor.

Among the rigs on NTT DOCOMO’s launching road map, the Raku-Raku Smartphone offers users the actual feel of pressing keys on its touch interface. However, the stars of the launch party are the eight NEXT series of phones which include Galaxy S III, Optimus Vu and Arrows X. The rigs carry cameras ranging from 8 Mega Pixels to 13.1 Mega Pixels. DoCoMo also plans to introduce three ‘With’ series phones during the launch spree.

Interestingly, all the new models are water resistant and many of them sport features like Near Field Communications (NFC), infrared communications and One-Seg terrestrial digital broadcasting.

Six models come with pre-installed “Twonky Beam” app, which allows users to enjoy recorded digital contents on their smartphones and transfer videos, images or music to large-display devices like television through Wi-Fi.
