Tablets and Smartphones Turn New Age Nannies

In the 80s and the 90s, the best toy a child could have was a geometry box with the pinball time game in it, And, that used to keep kids busy for a long time.

Other than that, there was the TV, which was another device that would count as one of the best nannies of that time, simply because it made kids sit somewhere and watch it instead of playing around and getting hurt.

But it looks like a lot has changed today, as almost everywhere we look, we get to see a toddler carrying a tablet or a smartphone and the child would be engrossed in the features that it offers.

There were a couple of tests which were run on the subject and they came out with some pretty amazing conclusions.

In December of 2011, only one in ten American adults owned a tablet, but in January of 2012, one in 5 American adults owned a tablet and 22% of the parents accepted the fact that they share their smartphone or tablet with their children and in homes where tablets are present, 7 out of 10 kids have used the device.

Another amazing fact about tablets is that in literacy test score comparison between kids who have used a tablet and kids who have not, the kids who have used the tablet scored more than those who haven’t.

This is because there are apps for download and many parents download these educational apps for their young, which prove to be a serious help to the education and the mental growth of the child.

So all in all, giving your tablet or smart device to your child is not a bad idea as long as you are there to supervise of course.
