Toshiba Excite 13 at CTIA is Huge; Wonder if the Tablet Name Suits It

CTIA is open and gadget news is pouring in. Here we share with you something odd at the CTIA, at the Toshiba stall.

We have heard about Toshiba Excite 13, a gadget Toshiba calls a tablet. But when we saw it for the first time, we felt like the tablet nomenclature will be a misnomer for this device.

Toshiba Excite 13 is a massive device for a tablet with a whopping 13-inch wide display that makes it a little difficult to handle. May be they can boast about having the biggest tablet in the market, but we would like to call it something else.

Based on the specs, Toshiba Excite 13 is not a very bad machine. It packs a 1600 x 900 pixel resolution display and is powered by the quad core power of the NVIDIA Tegra 3. To be up to date, Excite 13 runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Despite being huge, it has a rear cam with 5 MP resolution and front facing camera of 2 mega pixel resolution.  For connectivity, the rig packs microUSB and microHDMI-out ports and a SD port as well.

The large Toshiba Excite 13 comes with cases which may often restrict it to home or office spaces, since carrying it along with the case will be just like you are carrying your TV everywhere.

Moreover, this huge rig helping Toshiba to improve its stands in the tablet market is under doubt since it costs $650 for a 32 GB version. The 64 GB variant comes with a $750 price tag. The Wi-Fi only Toshiba Excite 13 will go on sale this June 24th.

[Editor’s note: Musicians should take a close look at this large tablet.  It could replace your thick music book.  Just make PDFs of your music and put the tablet on your music stand.]
