Hope you remember how one of the best rugged devices from Olympus had given the world a sneak peek by way of an unexpected appearance at online retailer site BestBuy some days ago.

BestBuy had then pulled down the page once the spotting tech news headlines. But now there is no need for embarrassment for BestBuy to put it back on their site as the rig has come out officially.

Christened TG-1 iHS, the device from Olympus promises to be a high-speed point and shoot camera with a 12 megapixel sensor and f2.0 lens packed in a tough rugged body to accompany the adventure ones as a companion to their expeditions to the tough terrains.

Olympus claims that the TG-1 iHS is the first rugged cam on earth to feature such a high-speed lens.

In addition, it packs a 3 inch OLED display, 4x optical zoom to make a total of 8x zoom along with 20 different scene modes for the users to explore creative options.

The rugged durability makes it member of the clan of the strongest shutter machines from Olympus with its ability to fight natural elements and to survive a fall or excess pressure.

Olympus TG-1 iHS is waterproof to 40 feet and shockproof to 6.6 feet. It can survive temperatures as low as 14 degree Celsius and can survive a crushing weight of up to 220 pounds according to official claims.
