With more and more HD games out in the stores, we need to keep up with them by buying the latest hardware. And, one of the most important pieces of hardware for gamers is the video card, as you know. There are a lot of video cards available with different features and specifications and one of the latest is from Nvidia.

At the GeForce LAN/Nvidia Game Festival inShanghai, Jen-Hsun Huang, CEO of Nvidia, has announced that they have will be launching a new video card named the GeForce GTX 690.

Nvidia’s latest creation uses the new 28nm Kepler architecture that Nvidia introduced on the recent GTX 680.

The card had been designed from the ground up to deliver the highest performance of any graphics card in history. The card has been paid special attention to every single detail so that they could deliver the highest thermals, the highest acoustics and the highest electrical performance with their particular design.

Is Nvidia exaggerating? No, and the reason is because of what the card offers. The GTX 690 has 3072 CUDA parallel processing cores. The card comes with 4 GB of 6 GHz GDDR5 RAM. Its exterior frame is made with trivalent chromium-plated aluminum which is very tough and durable.

The new fan is made with a thixomolded magnesium alloy that cools the video card down a lot and helps in the dampening of vibrations. Its optimized center-mounted axial fan runs at a 3000 rpm.

The ducted baseplate channels and low-profile components help in the reduction of the airflow obstruction which improves acoustics of the card.

The Nvidia GeForce GTX 690 is quieter and has better power efficiency than two Nvidia GeForce GTX 680 connected together.

The GTX 690 even provides all the features found on the GTX 680, like the GPU Boost that overclocks to provide even more power. The ten-layer two-ounce copper printed circuit board (PCB) and ten-phase power supply help in high efficiency power supply.

The Nvidia GeForce GTX 690 will be out on May 3rd in limited supplies and would cost you $999. If you want an out of the world gaming experience, it would be a good idea to go for it. That is, if you can afford it.
