Asus Transformer Prime Free GPS Dongles Shipping Today

April 26, 2012, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

All those who bought the Asus Transformer Prime and registered for a free GPS Dongle will receive the dongles today. Now, doesn’t that sound nice, particularly when the ASUS Transformer Prime has been having complaints about a few GPS issues. The arrival of the dongle is sure to solve that once and for ever.

Though the new GPS Dongle does not match the Asus Transformer Prime looks wise, it still does the job and fixes most of the GPS related issues that come with the device.

But there is still one problem that could bother a lot of people. The absence of a passthrough connector makes it impossible to plug in the GPS Dongle and charge the tablet at the same time. We think that indeed is a major let down.

Some may use the tablet for music, while others for movies, and there are others who use it for gaming and other stuff. While many think that using their tablets as a GPS is a waste of time, it still is a good feature that a tablet needs.

If you already own an Asus Transformer Prime, just be sure to charge it before using it as a GPS just so that you don’t get stuck in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do.

Besides all that, you can plug in an optional keyboard to the device, which makes typing a lot easier and comfortable.

Maybe later on, they will make GPS Dongle use perfect as well by including a passthrough connector. Let’s hope so.
