HP EliteBook 8470p to Pack Intel Ivy Bridge Power

April 12, 2012, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Intel has recently made its Ivy Bridge clan of chips available to the OEM companies. The new chip is elite when compared to the preceding chip series from Intel.

May be that is the reason why HP has decided to add a successor to their EliteBook 8460p business notebook.

The major difference with the upgraded model will be the chip since both pack the same 14-inch wide display. The looks are the same since the new rig also packs the bead-blasted aluminum and magnesium build.

However, the new baby will be christened as EliteBook 8470p business notebook, and will offer a set of chip options belonging to the Intel Core series. Available information on this rig hint that the existing prototype runs on 1.7 GHz Core i7 CPU.

Since the predecessor was a massive power-life device with a 32 hour battery life claim, we can expect the new entrant also will be stronger at the power front.

Leaked info suggests the 8470p  also supports the nine cell accessory battery just like its old timer.

It also packs integrated Intel graphics and up to 8 GB of RAM. HP plans to give a set of storage options to the customers when they want pick among this line up. They have to choose between a 1366 x 768 and 1600 x 900 displays too.

Though all the above information tends to be from the rumor mills and other anonymous but reliable sources, we find it more believable.

However, we are keeping in touch with the HP official sources to catch the bird hot, when the company comes out with the official specs, price and shipping date. Stay tuned.
