Apple Configurator Rolls Out,New Way to Manage a Set of iOS Devices

Times are indeed changing. Market analysis has already pointed to the increasing presence of iPads and iPhones at companies and work places, often replacing desktops or Apple’s on Mac machines.

To be a system administrator in such an organisation is going to be a little different here than how you did it with a set of static desktops.

Now the Cupertino gaunt has rolled out a new tool for those administrator shepherds who have to look after a herd of iPhones or iPads in an organisation environment.

Dubbed Configurator, the tool allows you to “mass configure and deploy iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch,” in schools or small business environments.

Configurator allows you to manage 30 devices in one go which is the ideal situation with small organisations.

It gives a set of configuration options with which you can create and install configuration profiles, use a back up of preconfigured settings and app data to set the devices in such a way to suit the needs of the organisation.

It gives you real fire power to supervise them, with the ability to decide which devices should sync with the computer, organising them into custom groups and applying automatic general configuration settings to them.

Now with Configurator, decide the appearance of the devices by choosing wall papers, lock screens and anything you want.

The new Configurator has overcome the limitations of its ancestor iPhone Configuration Utility, which came into existence from 2008 onwards.

We just tried itand found it rocking. We would like to know if anybody around here did the same. How you felt? Let us know in your comments.
