Peter Molyneux Leaves Lionhead Studios

March 7, 2012, By Christian Davis

One of the founders and most known members of Lionhead Studios, and the creative head for Microsoft Europe, Peter Molyneux has announced that he’s leaving those positions to join a new company called 22 Cans. Most known in the general public for his work on Fable, Moleyneux has become a household name over the years and has proven that he is one of the greatest minds in the video game industry.

The announcement was made over Twitter this morning. It states: “I have left the lovely amazing Microsoft and lionhead. Now for something really amazing, scary and brave a new company called 22 Cans.”

This move may not be as surprising as you may think. In the past, Molyneux made statements showcasing his boredom with how modern games were being made. Here’s a small excerpt he said in an interview.

“I’m trying to think of a more diplomatic way of saying this, but I’m just a little bit bored of doing things the same way in games,” he said in an interview with ComputerandVideogames. “While I love all the drama of modern games, there is this sameness about it.”

This move could be the change he needs to get that fire burning in him again and create some really unique games for us to enjoy.

Here’s to the future of 22 Cans.
