LG has been always trying to bring in new 3D features on their products. After the Optimus 3D in the smartphone line up, LG is now ushering in the Optimus 3D Cube. Revealing ultimate skills in 3D technology, the Optimus 3D Cube comes about as the world’s first phone to feature the 3D photo and video editing. The handset is now the thinnest and lightest 3D mobile phone in the world.
The Optimus 3D Cube sports a 4.3-inch wide viewing angle (IPS) LCD screen with no glasses for 3D effect. The Android 2.3 Gingerbread powered handset carries a 1.2GHz dual-core CPU and 16GB of inbuilt memory under the hood.
The dual 5-megapixel cameras in the rear allow for 3D capturing, whereas the 0.3-megapixel front shooter supports video calling. A 1,520mAh battery backs the148g device that measures 126.8 x 67.4 x 9.6mm in dimensions.
Apart from 3D editing freedom, the smartphone features ‘My Suit icon’ that allows the user to decorate the phone menus and icons with images by simple touch operations. The Optimus 3D Cube comes with NFC enabled ‘LG Tag Plus (Tag +)’ stickers that adjust the phone settings according to the Sleep Mode Operation, Office mode, auto mode depending on the surrounding environment.
LG has said that the handset will be released in their home market jointly by Korean carrier SK Telecom by early March.
It is expected that an Android Ice Cream Sandwich update will be reaching the handset, akin to what we saw for the Optimus Vu a while ago. The company hasn’t confirmed this, though.
