Multiplayer Mech Title Hawken Is Coming This December And Will Be Free To Play

February 6, 2012, By Christian Davis

Remember that incredibly impressive mech title Hawken from a while back? I don’t blame you if you’ve forgotten about it. It’s been quiet some time since we’ve heard or seen anything about the game or it’s developer, Adhesive Games. Well, wonder no more because Venture Beat has got the latest information on the title.

The Unreal Engine 3 built multiplayer shooter will be releasing this December and will be published by Meteor Entertainment. I know, I know, December is not even remotely close, so we’ve got a lot of time to wait.

At least the wait will come free of charge. That’s right, Hawken will be free to play. In an interview with Adhesive co-founder Khang Le, he said the web based, free to play game will feature fast paced action in short bursts in the same style of Call of Duty and will play in a session based format like Leauge of Legends. Sounds like fun to me.

When the trailer (shown below) launched in 2011, it really set the internet on fire with it’s impressive gameplay, gritty theme, and intense action. Everyone wanted to know more about Hawken.

There was going to be a single player portion of the game and they even made a teaser trailer for it, but it’s apparent that they dropped it. Focusing on the main aspect of the game is never a bad thing and in this case, it seems like it was a good idea.

Hawken will be released on December 12 of this year. If you can’t wait to get your hands on the game, sign up for the closed beta by clicking here. If you get three of your friends to enlist, you’ll guarantee yourself a spot.
