Ice Cream Sandwich Now Graces One Percent of Android Devices

Are you enjoying the power of Android’s latest version, the Ice Cream Sandwich? Google has released the latest distribution figures for the Android platform, and the latest version of Android, version 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is now on 1 percent of all Android devices.

Cool eh? Owning a device with the latest OS that the rest of the world is still waiting for is real cool.

Android Gingerbread is in the top spot, with a 58.6 share of the total Android distribution, followed by the Android 2.2 Froyo, with a 27.8 percent share of Android distribution.

Android Honeycomb accounts for just 3.4 percent of the total Android distribution. Android Eclair has a 7.6 percent share and Android Donut has a share of 1 percent. Android Cupcake is on just 0.6 percent of devices.

Back to Ice Cream Sandwich, the OS is ready for a roll out with many manufacturers expected to release the update to their hardware in the next few months. So the 1 percent will not remain just 1 percent for long.

So far there are only three devices that officially run the Ice Cream Sandwich OS – the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, the Huawei Honor and the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime.
