January 25, 2012, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Sony has finally announced the Android 4.0 updatefor the tablets and Xperia phones. The company said that with the start of this year’s spring, its Xperia family will be entitled for the Ice Cream Sandwich treat.

In the tablet department, Sony will be updating their Android devices: Tablet S and Tablet P with the Ice Cream Sandwich OS. Currently, both the slates are undergoing testing process with the compatibility of Android 4.0.

In the smartphone section, the Xperia line up handsets included for the Android 4.0 update are Arc, Arc S, Play, Neo, Neo V, Mini, Mini Pro, Active, Ray and Live Walkman. That’s quite an array, so Sony fans would be sure of getting an update on any of these above mentioned smartphones.

Unfortunately, the company hasn’t revealed a specific release date of the Android 4.0 update bundle reaching the devices. It is reported that along with the Android Ice Cream Sandwich update, they are planning to include “some really cool unique bits” especially for the two tablets.

But here too they haven’t given any clue on the cool additional features prepared for the slates. Guess we have to wait for them to hit.

Stay tuned as we go for the exact date of the Android 4.0 update reaching the Sony devices.
