Sony Ericsson Kumquat May be Named Xperia U, Suggests Leak

January 24, 2012, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Seems like Sony is having a tough time in keeping its devices under the hood of secrecy. Kumquat, one of the major smartphones believed to be in the production line targeting an imminent Mobile World Conference launch, has again hit the headlines with a new leak.

The new leak suggests something about the possible nomenclature system Sony may adopt when the device hits the markets. Based on reliable sources, it is learnt that Sony Ericsson Kumquat (ST25i) will be hitting the markets with a comparatively easier name Sony Ericsson Xperia U. The leak, this time came from a less expected source, the Indonesian Telecom regulatory authority Postel website.

With this leak, we assume that Sony has adopted the nomenclature of naming new devices Xperia adding a single alphabet after that. Though we have just a few days to hit the Mobile World Conference at Barcelona in Spain, we cannot help sharing whatever we know about this new entrant from Sony Ericcson with our readers.

By listing out info from the leaks we have spotted so far, this new rig will look like Xperia S. it is learnt to feature a transparent button on the bottom of the display. It resembles Nymphon too.

But as per reports, it has a display smaller than that in size and resolution. Rumor mills say that it will have a 3.5 inch display with 480 x 854 resolution.

The device will be powered by a 1 GHz dual core processor. It is learnt to have a 5 mega pixel camera on its rear.

If these tipsters and leakers are anything to believe, we will have a chance to play with this cute device at Barcelona in a matter of less than a month. Well then, see you then Xperia U !
