Consoles to Get Digital Download Charts Soon

UK Interactive Entertainment (UKIE) is now working on a digital chart system for games in PC. The company has also announced that it is prepping to come up with a similar ranking system for Xbox and Playstation digital games as well.

In an interview with MCV, Andy Payne, chairman of UKIE said that the company is in conversations about XBLA and PSN, because they are very important as well.

When asked why the system was not developed for consoles first, he said, you could argue that we should have started with that. And I wouldn’t disagree. At the time, people were touchy about data. But attitudes have changed amongst content owners and platform holders.

Payne said that the Xbox and Playstation charts will be easier to pull together than the PC version. Digital distribution of games and other content is on the upswing. Users now rely on and enjoy gaming services over the internet without leaving their homes.

The folks over at VideoGamer are pleased to see this kind of action being taken, According to them, it is an important step to get digital charts up and running now, so as to avoid what happened when Steam and other similar services launched and as a result the PC games market lost out on sales.

So, digital charts for UK’s downloadable games on the PS3 and Xbox 360. That’s some digitization.
