Motorola Xoom Gets Ice Cream Sandwich Update

January 18, 2012, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Great news for Motorola lovers! Ending a long wait, the company has released an Ice Cream Sandwich update for their Xoom tablet, which will be available soon.

Since the release of the device in last year, it has been running in Android 3.0 Honeycomb, which was the best in market at that time.

The announced update for the Xoom is Android 4.0.3, and it will be channeled to users over the air (OTA).

So if you are a Xoom owner, you can directly download the app to your handset, and install it at once.  It is not sure whether the update would be available for manual downloading using a PC.

But, it needs interface installation of mobile software as a precondition, and hence would be tedious. If you really want manual downloading, go on for a constant check on Motorola web- pages and support forums.

Motorola Xoom was a real trump card for the company at the time of its inception. The device gave a clear upper hand for Motorola among other device manufacturers.

Later, the company issued a number of new generation devices, but Motorola Xoom clearly stands out. Customers have been demanding an upgrade of the OS.

Even in the era of technological eruption, Motorola Xoom defined its own way forward. The device newer bowed before the authority of newer devices, just that it needed some slight polishing. With the update, the device emerges to fit into the newer benchmarks.
