Canon has come up with two top-end devices in their compact camera range, by revealing the Canon ELPH 520 HS (IXUS 500 HS) and ELPH 110 HS (IXUS 125 HS) at the Consumer Electronic Show.

Among these PowerShot series of clicking machines, ELPH 520 HS is touted as world’s thinnest device of its kind featuring a 12X optical zoom.

Packed in an ultrathin 19.2 mm wide metallic body of red, blue, black and silver shades, ELPH 520 HS is a handy 10.1 MP cam running the latest DIGIC 5 processor. Though, wider than its bro by .8 mm, ELPH 110 HS also offers a good deal with its 16.1 megapixel resolution, though with a 5X optical zoom.

Apart from their physical specs, the duo is notable for the unique Canon technology accompanying them. The ZoomPlus technology extends the devices’ zoom range beyond maximum focal length of the lenses, giving 21X zoom for the ELPH 520 HS, and 10X effective zoom for ELPH 110 HS.

The Smart Auto technology, coupled with the Face ID feature can make sure that the pictures are excellent when you are snapping your loved ones. It allows users to register the age of a person in the camera memory, with which the Smart Auto feature will change the setting based on the age, ambience and activities of the person to deliver best pictures.

Both the models have 1080p Full HD video capture capabilities, coupled with the 3.5-stop Optical Image Stabilizer to get smoother videos. While the ELPH 520 HS comes with a stereo microphone, the other model features only monophonic speakers and microphone.

Looking at other specs, both cameras feature 7.5 cm PureColor II G LCD display with live view, an ISO range of 100 to 3200, multi white balance options and 19 different scene modes including the newly added Smooth Skin and Soft Focus modes.
