Google Prepping Own 7-inch Tablet

For any manufacturer in the tablet space, the big goal would be to bring down the Apple iPad, for obvious reasons. But for Google, the goal seems to be competing against the once touted iPad killer, the Amazon Kindle Fire.

According to the latest Digitime reports, Google seems to be working on a 7-inch tablet, which would go head-to-head with the 7-inch Amazon tablet. Sources from Google’s upstream supply chain say that Google’s own tablet will run the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and will be priced below $199.

The tablet is said to arrive in the March-April time frame. However, Google Taiwan commented that the company has never heard about plan of launching their very own-brand tablet PC.

If you do not recollect, Google’s Eric Schmidt recently stated that Google is planning to market a tablet of the highest quality in the next six months. That is all we have from Google’s side, but it did spark up the rumors of a Nexus tablet to compete against all the other Android-powered tablets that clutter the market.

So that brings out both sides of the story. But if Google is planning to introduce us to its own branded tablet in the market, either the tablet will not be of the highest quality, or Google is willing to bear heavy losses on this one.

Take it with a pinch of salt guys. We are just passing on information.
