Here’s something that will make iFans excited. You will be able to play with Apple’s next generation iPad soon. The interesting part is that the latest iPad will be coming in two versions.
According to Apple’s supply chain partners, the next iPad models will be unwrapped at iWorld, on January 26th, 2012.
The two new iPads, believed to be the continuation of iPad 2 series, will come in different ranges.
By lining up the new iPads, the Cupertino-based company seems to be aiming at pocketing the entry-level, mid-range and high-end market segments. In the price-sensitive market segment, the next gen iPad 2 is set to compete directly with slates like the Kindle Fire.
It is believed that the new two versions will be targeting the mid-range and high-end segments of the tablet market. Though a 7.85-inch iPad has been rumored so far, the latest reports suggest that the new models will come with 9.7-inch screens of QXGA resolution (1536 x 2048 pixels).
As we have reported earlier, the new iPad models will be incorporated with the dual-LED light bars to improve the brightness of the display panels. Along with Sharp, the major supplier of panels, Samsung Electronics and LG Display also have a role to play in the production of the iPad screens.
Minebea, the backlight unit (BLU) provider of Sharp has now made their entry in the supply chain for the new iPads. The new Apple tablets will be powered by the quad-core A6 processors, developed by Samsung.
In addition, Samsung also provides the CMOS image sensor (CIS) for one of the new iPad models that will be sporting a 5 megapixel camera. Other than the chip, this is the first time that the Korean company is offering another part to Apple products.
A high-capacity 14,000 mAh battery will be used in the latest iPad models. The supply orders of the batteries have been secured by the Simplo Technology and Dynapack International Technology.
Aren’t you excited? We are!
