Sony Ericsson Nozomi Filed for Ion Trademark; New Variant Spotted

December 27, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Sony Ericsson Nozomi is currently the hot topic that is most widely discussed in the tech world. Nozomi is speculated to be the codename of the next Sony Ericsson XPERIA handset-Arc HD.

In support to this, we have found that the phone manufacturer has registered for the XPERIA Ion trademark for a new handset. The filing for the trademark was done in December 13 without a clear name of the smartphone.

The other interesting part is that a new version of the Nozomi has been spotted. The handset, found carrying the model number LT28at, is believed to be a high-end smartphone.

Rumors reveal that the new Nozomi sports a 4.55-inch screen with 720p HD resolution. Replacing the 12-megapixel camera, a 13-megapixel one is expected to be equipped on the upcoming smartphone.

If this turns true, then the Nozomi variant will be the first phone in the US to have a 13-megapixel camera. Presently, the label is held by the Nokia N8 that features a 12-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and Xenon flash.

The smartphone might land Stateside with support for AT&T’s 4G LTE and HSPA+ networks. Some of the other features expected are a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and dual microphones with noise suppression and stereo recording.

Anyway, we will know for sure how the affairs stand once the Consumer Electronics Show flags off in January 2012. But until then, we will keep bringing on the buzz, so hang around to catch the talk.
