December 27, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

LG smartphones are about to go on an Ice Cream Sandwich spree. The company announced their plans to provide the Android 4.0 upgrade timeline through their Facebook page.

LG’s 2011 lineup will be treated to the Android Ice Cream Sandwich from the second quarter of the New Year. The LG Optimus LTE, LG Prada 3.0, LG Optimus 2X, LG Optimus Sol, LG myTouch Q and the LG Eclipse will be the first ones to receive the latest Android version.

The third quarter will see the update being rolled out to the LG Optimus 3D, LG Optimus Black, LG Optimus Big, LG Optimus Q2 and the LG Optimus EX. A wide array of handsets ensures that the upgrade is global, though the exact time and date might differ according to the region and carrier.

LG hasn’t confirmed whether the Android 4.0 update would be available for the re-branded variants too. Smartphones like the T-Mobile G2X (Optimus 2X), LG Thrill (Optimus 3D), and the LG Nitro HD (Optimus LTE) are in the list of unconfirmed devices waiting for the upgrade.

More details regarding the ICS update and the exact dates would be released soon, so stay tuned for the news. LG’s Facebook page ought to give you timely updates so check in with the company.
