Nokia Gears Up for a Big Year Ahead

December 23, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Have a look at the recent, informal, reports about Nokia’s big plans next year.

The Finnish phone maker’s is said to be gearing up for the launch of more devices in the Lumia line and also Windows 8-based tablets.

Rumor has it that Windows Phone Tango smartphones might be unveiled at CES in January 2012 or Mobile World Congress in February.

Also, Nokia phones with Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8, code named Apollo, are slated to arrive at the Nokia Connection conference in June. Apollo will see the light of the day next year.

We also hear that the Nokia Lumia 900, a higher-end version of the Lumia 800 and the Lumia 719 with Windows Tango, will be unveiled at CES.  Tango will let manufacturers deliver 4G devices and also smaller smartphones in order to compete with Android.

Microsoft is also trying hard to make its mark on the market with Apollo, breaking the trend of releasing its mobile operating systems in fall.

Apollo will come with NFC, larger display and higher resolution display support.

Coming to tablets, this is the first time we are hearing about Nokia’s efforts to come up with Windows 8 based tablets.

Do not get all too excited with the info. These are apparently subject to change.
