Samsung Galaxy Nexus GSM Models Start Getting Android 4.0.2 Update

December 17, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Along with the Verizon version of the Galaxy nexus, we now have the GSM variant also on the rounds. As you already know, the update for the Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS released already and the Verizon 4G LTE Galaxy Nexus had started receiving the Android 4.0.2 update on launch day itself.

And, now it’s confirmed that the Android 4.0.2 update has started to reach the GSM Samsung Galaxy Nexus owners.

The 8.7MB update pack carrying the build number ICL53F has made no serious changes other than fixing some bugs in the handset. The pack contains the same fixes which were earlier prepared for the Verizon version.

To get the Android 4.0.2 update bundle on your GSM Galaxy Nexus, go to the “Settings”, select “About phone” and click “System updates”.  If you receive a note telling that the handset is already up-to-date, then you will have to wait a little more to get the update pack.

For those who can’t wait for the OTA update, you can manually download the pack through following some careful steps if you head here.

You will have to download the OTA update pack directly from Google on to your computer. Also,  get the latest ClockWorkMod recovery file and transfer it to the sdcard folder and reboot the Galaxy Nexus.

Hope you have already read the report which said Verizon Galaxy Nexus owners are having signal issues after the Android 4.0.2 update on their handsets.

Tell us your experience with the update on your GSM handset.
