Modern Warfare 3 Accumulates $1 Billion In 16 Days

The words “record breaking” and Call of Duty go better together than peanut butter and jelly. With each installment of the series that is released, a new record is broken and Modern Warfare 3 so far has broken the most. It already broke the five day sales record in entertainment history, making $775 Million which was recently held by Call of Duty: Black Ops.

That wasn’t enough though. According the Charttrack, the game has now surpassed another milestone and another record holder. The first person shooter has grossed $1 billion dollars in just 16 days, beating James Cameron’s film, Avatar, which accumulated that amount in 17 days.

Did any of us really expect any less from the franchise? We love Infinity Wards shooter and we will continue to play this game for years to come. It’s addicting, easy to get into, theatrical, and everyone loves to watch it being played.

According to Box Office Mojo, there are 30 million gamers in the Call of Duty community. That’s more than the combined populations of New York, London, Tokyo, Paris, and Madrid. When the first batch of DLC drops for the game, you can expect another record to be broken as well.

Every year new people are brought into the franchise and once they’re introduced, they continue to play and invite their friends and it just keeps spreading.

Where are all the Call of Duty haters now?
