Samsung to Unveil Retina-Resolution Tablet Early Next Year

The rumor mill is in full swing with talks of an 11.6-inch tablet from the house of Samsung. If the device does exist, then we might see the electronics giant unveiling the wrapper during the Mobile World Congress next year.

This device, touted to be the largest tablet, is speculated to harbor the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The slate, said to sport a screen of size 11.6-inch with a resolution of 2560×1600 (wow!), will be characterized by an aspect ratio of 16:10.

Even though the tablet features a larger display than Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1, it is told that the tablet is “barely larger” due to the fact the slate will have a shrinking bezel towards the edges. Under the hood, the slate will make use of a dual-core Exynos 5250 CPU clocked at 2GHz.

As we have seen from many devices, it is not the number of cores that matters but its architecture. In that respect, this product lives up to your level of expectation.

Also on board is an NFC chip to compliment the latest Android 4.0 and to make excellent use of the new Android Beam feature, which allows for easy syncing of media with a galaxy nexus.

Taking into consideration the demand for connectivity with television, Samsung offers a wireless docking mode for gaming on your HDTV. So there’s something for gamers too.

This special wireless docking mode will help Samsung compete with Apple TV, AirPlay and other competitors.

Now before you start dreaming about the macho slate, let’s wait for an official word from the company.
