HP WebOS All-Hands Meeting to Decide the Fate of the Platform

December 9, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

HP wants to make the right choice regarding what to do with the WebOS. CEO Meg Whitman said, after an all-hands meeting with HP’s WebOS unit that it was important to her to make “the right decision” and that her choice wouldn’t come for another three to four weeks.

Now, Pre Central reports that another all-hands meeting of WebOS Global Business Unit is scheduled for today at 10.30 AM Pacific Time. The exact purpose of the meeting is unknown, though.

It is said that she has decided on the fate of the platform. The previous all-hands meeting with the same WebOS team did not yield any results.

Maybe Meg Whitman has decided on the right choice this time, or maybe it will have to wait for another three or four weeks. There is no definite answer.

HP had decided to stop making the hardware running the OS just weeks after TouchPad hit the stores. Since then, the platform has been hanging precariously.

In the meantime, the rumor mill is making the best out of HP’s delay in making the right choice. What we feel is that we haven’t heard the last from WebOS.

Let us know your thoughts on this one until we bring you the updates.
